LCGPC Colorguard Promotions

Promoting is used to describe a unit being moved up to a higher class than they are currently participated. The circuit has voted to use a promoting system for all classes, with exception of the Cadet class. Units will be evaluated during their first two (2) competitions to determine if they achieve review scores. The review score is equal to or greater than 5 points below the block score set by WGI for a given week. Novice and Regional A class review scores will be established by evaluating the criteria on the Regional A judging sheet relative to the same criteria on the Class A judging sheet. The review scores for Novice and Regional A classes will be established by the Executive Board and will be posted. Upon achieving a review score, notification will be given to the unit (by the Contest Director) explaining they achieved the review score and are being evaluated. If the unit achieves the review score during their next performance, they will be promoted to the next class. Promotions will end two (2) weeks before Championships.

If a unit wishes to appeal the promotion, the unit may appeal the decision through the following:
a. A written statement (petition) must be presented by the Unit Director to the Executive Director;
b. The Executive Director will canvas the Board of Directors regarding the appropriateness of the promotion;
c. A single majority vote of the Board of Directors will decide if the promotion was justified; and,
d. The Executive director will respond with the Board’s decision in writing to the unit as soon as possible.
